Ceramics

"All artists dream of a silence which they must enter, as some creatures return to the sea to spawn. (Iris Murdoch)".  I have learnt that in order to centre this tactile and supple material of clay to create a form, it requires that I too have to be centred and focused and so the process has become a meditation in itself.

All of my ceramic pieces are entirely hand-thrown (sculpted forms are sometimes added to the lids), making up a range of tableware and vases : from turning and handling to glazing and firing. I research my own glazes and slips and am often surprised by the end result at the end of a firing.  Ceramics is a labour of love, and a constant work in progress.
